Furnishing

Each villa has it's main entrance on the middle floor. It gives access to the living-area which includes a dining-place and an open-plan kitchen at it's rear side.

Each living-area has a satellite color TV set with a flat screen, DVD and CD players, 2 air conditioning units and an open fireplace. Firewood is available (except during the high summer).

Two large glass doors connect the living-area to the spacious balcony.

On the middle floor there is also a bedroom with a double bed, and a bathroom with a bath-tub or shower, and a washing machine.

An inner staircase leads from the living-area to the top floor. There are 2 more bedrooms, one of them with a double bed and the other one with 2 single beds.

These two bedrooms have access to the upper balcony. The top floor furthermore includes a shower bathroom.

With occupancy of more than 6 persons, the ground floor will be used as well.

It can be accessed via an outer staircase and makes a complete dwelling-unit of it's own.

The ground floor has it's own living-area with 2 air conditioning units, and a dining-place with an attached open-plan kitchen.

One or two large glass doors open towards the terrace.

The ground floor also includes a third bathroom with a bath-tub and one or two more bedrooms, one of them with a double bed and the other one with 2 single beds, which will be put into service depending on the total number auf guests.

All bedrooms have large built-in closets and separate air conditioning units which can be switched to heating-mode during chilly nights or in wintertime.

The bathrooms are equipped with hair dryers. Irons and boards are available as well.

All balcony doors and all windows have modern aluminum frames and double glazing as well as sliding or roller shutters.

The furniture and the lamps have been selected most carefully and give the rooms a particularly homely style.

The living- and bedrooms are tenderly decorated with small and large paintings, wall plates, vases, jars with flowers and bowls of glas and metal. This gives the impression that the houses have already been occupied for many years.

Furthermore, there is a First-Aid kit and a safe deposit box in each villa.

The houses have solar water heating with auxiliary electric heating. Both water and electricity (also for the air conditioning units) are included in the rates.

Rooms cleaning as well as change of sheets and towels twice per week.

Wireless internet access (ADSL / WiFi) is available all over the holiday villas site.
� The swimming pools are in operation from April till November.

Local Amenities and Activities

Sport and Entertainment
� On the more than 15 kms long sandy beach that lines the bay of Rethymnon there are plenty of sports and watersports on offer. This includes volleyball, windsurfing, water skiing, paragliding, sailing, wetbikes, jet skiing, pedaloes and much more.

Bars, discotheques and a colourful nightlife can be found in Adelianos Campos and in the neighbouring villages of Platanias and Pighianos Campos during the season as well, and all-year in the picturesque Venetian old town of Rethymnon.

Golf George
runs a mini golf court in the town of Rethymnon and another one in Adelianos Campos (5 kms).

Both are large facilities with 18 tracks each, and very comfortable. There are paved paths, flowers and ornamental plants, and all tracks are floored with artificial lawn.

Each track has a small writing-desk and a garden lamp, and in each court's center there is a floodlight pylon.
� Furthermore, each facility has a bar which provides ice cream, coffee and other beverage.

Marianna's Workshop

in the tiny mountain village of Maroulas (400 meters) above Adele is a herb shop where tea-mixtures and oil essences from native plants are on offer, which help to allay many complaints in a natural way.

Marianna organizes botanological walks in the village's neighbourhood every Wednesday, where she not only shows the native plants and their habitats but also explains about when which plants can be harvested, and why.

Discotheque SkyPark

The hippest discotheque in Rethymnon is the SkyPark at Platanias by the Old National Road, just on the junction with the road to Arkadi (4 kms).
And so it is now for over 20 years.
It includes a garden restaurant which is most popular for many years as well (and gave the place it's name), and latterly also an internet cafe.
� So it is possible to dwell upon the SkyPark all day, and not just after midnight.

The Rakok�sano

of Nektarios Mathioudakis (9 kms) is a typical small wine press and Raki distillery. They work from August till November and everybody is welcome to come and watch.
In Crete, small enterprises like this exist everywhere. The farmers from the neighbourhood have their grapes pressed here, and Raki is being made from the rape.
Nektarios sells wine and Raki from his own production all-year as well.

The Atlantis Diving Center

has it's main seat at the Rithymna Beach Hotel (4.5 kms) in Adelianos Campos near Rethymnon.
A branch office is located at the Club Marine Palace Hotel in Panormo.
The Atlantis team offers dive training with PADI standards for beginners as well as for advanced training with diving excursions for experienced divers.
� There are no mass dives but safe diving in smaller groups with individual care.

Health Tourism

The dentist Evi Papadaki-Ninou (University of Erlangen-Nuremburg, Germany) has her office in the city of Rethymnon, and just around the corner there is the prosthetic dentistry plant cretadent where they use tools and material from Germany as well.
Holiday-makers who speak English or German can therefore use their vacation for having dental crowns, pontics, dentures etc. manufactured and applied.

The Church of Peter and Paul in Misiria

is one of the biggest in the area of Rethymnon. The construction process started in 1994 and mainly the inside of the church is most beautiful, but the building has still not been completed. The reasons for this are shown in the official �web siteof the church (5 kms).
If you like so, just stop by during the service on a Sunday morning. The parish is always glad to have guests visiting them, and for small donations they are glad as well.

Weddings in Crete

In Rethymnon in a side lane of the beach road, there is a small enterprise which specializes in professional organization of private events.
Annika Schneider and Caroline Austen who run the "moments" business are experts. They arrange weddings, engagements, vow renewals, honeymoons, anniversaries, baptisms, jubilees, birthdays and other festivities in the entire area of Rethymnon.

Costa Costa's

optician's workshop hides in the Gherakari street in the inner city of Rethymnon.
Costantino Costa passed his professional training in Italy and then worked at Duesseldorf (Germany) for some time before he came to Rethymnon in 1996.
In Greece, the low wage level makes glasses and contact lenses considerably cheaper than in many other countries.
� Tools and materials do however not suit for saving expenses, as for quality reasons they are predominantly ordered from Germany and come at their prices.

Driving directions (from airport or sea port)

Route from Iraklion airport to the butcher's shop �

You leave the airport range (1) towards South and the highway. Before the highway bridge, turn right and take the highway to Rethymnon (2) (the sign points to "Iraklion"). A bare hour later you will arrive to the Cape of Scaleta. The highway cuts through the cape's summit in a leftward bend, and the rocks on both sides form a gate (3). Immediately afterwards opens on the right hand side the view down to the bay of Rethymnon with it's hotel suburbs and the 15 kms distant city with it's port and the fortress (4). �

Continue on the motorway until you find a solitary AVIN gas station (5) on the left side: From here, it is the next junction. �

A short way after the AVIN gas station (1) the junction to Platanias and Arkadi (2) opens, first on the left and then on the right hand side. Leave the motorway and then turn left around a blunt bend, to enter the Old National Road. Immediately afterwards turn left opposite to a BP gas station and follow the sign (3) to the LIDL supermarket. After underpassing the motorway follow the road leftwards and uphill (4). As soon as you see a butcher's shop ("Kreopoleio") (x) on the left hand side, activate the trip counter and set it to zero. �

Route from Hania airport to the butcher's shop �

You leave the airport range (1), pass the gas station and after approx. 300 meters turn left. After another 1,700 meters turn right and on the road to Hania pass the villages of Aroni (2) and Pithari (3). By the exit of Pithari, the road ascends and then forks. Here you leave the road to Hania and take the left branch to Souda and Rethymnon. After a short way the view opens down to the bay. The road winds down the slope and finally arrives few meters above sea level. You enter Souda and continue to the traffic lights (4). Here you first turn right, and after a short distance turn left to enter the wide road to the highway. After crossing under the highway, turn left (5) and enter the highway in the direction of Rethymnon. The highway then changes into a two-lane motorway leading you to the suburbs of Rethymnon (6). �

From here, the highway has four lanes and after an underpass ascends to surround the city of Rethymnon in a wide curve. Down on the left you can see the town, the port, and the fortress (7). Finally the highway descends again, and short before a junction becomes two-laned (8). �

After that junction (1) the motorway runs mostly flat and passes some bridges. In this area it is framed by crash barriers (2). Just behind that part, the junction to Arkadi and Platanias opens first on the left and then on the right side of the motorway. Drive slowly - it has a hairpin bend and ascends steeply for some meters, and from all sides other vehicles may come all of them having right of way. The ascent runs into the road from Rethymnon to Arkadi. Turn left in direction of Arkadi. Immediately afterwards you will see a butcher's shop ("Kreopoleio") (x) on the left hand side: Now activate the trip counter and set it to zero. �

Route from the butcher's shop to the Great Escape Villas �

After you have set the trip counter to zero, do not touch it anymore! Just watch it! All data on distances and kilometers hereafter refer to the butcher's shop ("Kreopoleio") as the zero point. �

No follow the road to Arkadi. At 1.5 kms from the zero point you will find an EKO gas station on the right hand side. The next building is a car wash, and then follows a dwelling house. Turn right and continue downhill for some meters, just along the fence of the neighbouring property. By the lowest point starts a road which has been newly asphalted in autumn, 2009. It runs first uphill till 1.9 kms from the zero point. Turn left there, and continue on the new road around some bends and mostly ascending. At 2.8 kms from the zero point you will find the entrance gate to the villas' property on the right hand side. �
