The popular event attracts world class jazz musicians from Thailand and all over the world. Hua Hin Vintage Car Rally Is the Vintage Car Club of Thailand, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand annually sponsor a parade of vintage and classic cars starting at the Sofitel Central in Bangkok and ending in at the Sofitel Central Hua Hin Resort. The cars, with drivers and passengers decked out in 1920s attire, make the 225 km promenade in December of each year. The festivities culminate with a 1920s party at the Sofitel, which appropriately is a Victorian-style structure built in the 1920s Thailand’s International Kite Festival Is during March, April and May and features stunt kites, big kites, little kites, high tech kites, traditional Thai kites, and displays of international kites. This festival is held only every other year, the next being in 2010 I can recommend that guests rent a moped. This can be found opposite Burger King in the City Centre. This is a fantastic way to get to see all the sights and costs approx: 1000-1200THB per week, you will need to take your passport when renting. You will find travelling and touring the sights of Hua Hin will be cheaper by moped, but there are alternative options. Car rental and Taxis are widely available. A regular daily train leaves from Bangkok To Hua Hin . For a luxury trip I recommend the train no.43, special express train (sprinter), the train departs from Bangkok 7.45 am and arrives in Hua Hin about 11 am, for the journey back , take the train no. 40 departing from Hua Hin about 3.45 pm and arrives in Bangkok at about 8 pm. It is very convenient, has large relaxing seats and air condition. (ticket = 300 baht). The green locas bus go to Khao takiab, you can get on the bus at Hua Hin market in the centre of town (at the junction of Dechanuchit Rd across Sra Song Rd near night market area , you will notice 7-eleven shop) or you can wave your hand along the way when you see the bus coming along … The bus service runs 6.30 am to 7 pm every each 15 mins. Another way to get around Hua Hin is by Taxi or Tuk Tuk. Most places of interest in Hua Hin are within walking distance but some places are too far to walk such as Khao Takiab ... etc so this will be another choice to get around Hua Hin, dont forget to bargain for prices... Khao Takiab beach (chopstick hill) can be seen some 7 miles south of Hua Hin. The hill has a temple at the top and there are troops of monkeys that can be fed. For this reason it is also often referred to as ‘Monkey Mountain’. The beach at Khao Takiap is actually better behind the hill at Blue Wave where there are long expanses of beach and calm shallow waters ideal for children. Locals sometimes play football, volleyball and takraw on the wide flat sands of Khao Takiap beach. Green songtaews (twin benched pickup with a roof!) run frequently to Khao Takiab from town for 10 Baht, and a motorcycle taxi should cost no more than 100 Baht. Hua Hin shopping, Night Markets and Golfing Market village is a fantastic place to shop. You will find a wide range of shops from Supermarket to Food restaurants. Although thought of primarily as a place to eat, Hua Hins Night Market and the adjoining Night Plaza (located in the centre of town adjacent to Dechanuchit Road, just west of Phetkasem Road) is always a great place to eat and shop with the locals. In the evening additional food vendors set up along Dechanuchit Road between Chatchai Market and the Night Plaza, a market devoted primarily to tourist shops. The combination of these three market areas, provides Hua Hin with one of Thailands largest and most bustling night markets. There is something for everyone here, including handicrafts, traditional Thai food and numerous vendors several selling seafood for much less than you would find it in a standard restaurant. Another market worth visiting is the Pae Mae market. It appears only on Tuesdays and can be found near the driving range at Royal Hua Hin Golf Club. Here you can watch locals shop for anything that can be transported to a once-a-week marketplace. Its great fun and offers a slice of Thai life sometimes missed by visitors. Excellent to shop for Thai trinkets and handicrafts. For local handicrafts, the Hua Hin Bazaar, about 100 meters west of the beach, should be your first stop. There are hundreds of items in the shops, from shells and wood carvings to dried fish. There are a selection of world class Golf Courses in Hua Hin: This track offers superb golf holes in an exciting layout, with a succession of exciting & equally demanding holes to keep you entertained. BLACK MOUNTAIN is the 7th and newest golf course in Hua Hin and was transformed from lush jungle and pineapple plantations. The course is set in a valley, just next to the "Black Mountain’s", which are so named because of the large black rocks set into the mountains, providing a nice backdrop to many of the holes. Black Mountain is a test for the top golfers, but also very playable for the average golfer. All the holes provide the golfer with a safe route but for the more adventurous pla LAKEVIEW is a 36 holes course, with the original Mountain and Lakes being over 6900 yards from the back trees. Lakeview offers exciting and demanding play for the experienced golfer, but will also accommodate the occasional enthusiast. The Imperial Lake View Hotel & Golf Club offers the first 36 hole Golf course in Hua Hin and is a good example of a top quality Hua Hin golf course. The golf course is a favorite with both residents and visitors to the area and is situated a bit inland amongst small farms pineapple plantations on a large parkland parcel. For many golfers this is the most beautiful course in this region. The Imperial Lake View original 18 hole championship course is well maintained and lives up to it’s name with small streams in abundance, and a large lake dividing the course in two. This, together with mature trees, blind shots to some greens, undulating fairways and several doglegs, tests the skills of the low handicapper. The long par 3, 14th hole is particularly tricky and features a tee box on a small island and the green at another island 210 yards away - all surrounded by water. There are a number of easy par holes on offer making the course a balanced test of golf also for higher handicappers The desert course is uniquely designed to be different in so many ways that each shot must be carefully planned. Mixing these nine holes with those from the main course provides most with an extremely fulfilling round of golf. Lake View has just opened the Links course in late 2006, adding a further nine holes to the existing three courses. Each hole is unique and combined with the Desert course maybe the top course in the Hua Hin and Cha Am areas. PALM HILL golf club opened in 1996 this course is located only 10 minutes from Hua Hin town centre. The rolling and undulating fairways of the golf course give Palm Hills a distinctive identity which is different from all the other courses in the area. The 18 holes are arranged in two distinctive nines, separated by the beautiful clubhouse and a rocky outcrop extending from the mountain range The course runs from East to West with lakes at each end. The greens can be fast with some very tricky burrows. While playing the second nine holes, pla MAJESTIC CREEK is nestled in the hills to the west of Hua Hin lies The Majestic Creek golf course. Occupying 4,000 rai of palm and casuarinas trees, interspersed with creeks and lakes, many of the 27 challenging holes blend in with the surrounding tropical flora and fauna. And surrounding this championship golf course, situated within mango orchards and providing views of the adjacent holes. Majestic Creek Country Club is a favorite among locals and expatriates living in Hua Hin as the course conditions are probably the most consistent year round as compared to all other Hua Hin golf courses. Being set in the mountains just west of Hua Hin, Majestic Creek has nice surrounding scenery. Valleys in the nearby mountains supply water to the maze of streams winding around the course, and the builders have been careful to preserve them as natural hazards. which makes for some tricky shots over water. The Bermuda grass greens tend to be on the slow side. However, all the greens slope one way or another which makes for difficult side hill lies if one is not careful with their approach shots. The palm tree lined fairways are superb and an absolute pleasure to walk and play on.
