Captain Morgan's Villa is a recently restored farmhouse of gleaming Istrian stone with a private, walled, rear garden courtyard. A bedroom with en suite bathroom completes this floor From the living room two independent staircases rise to the first floor, one leading directly into the magnificent principal bedroom where substantial angled beams, each a hand carved original, support the roof. The lovely en suite bathroom features further antique beams, delightful ceramic wall tiles and a jacuzzi bath. The second stairway leads to two other fine bedrooms each with en suite bathrooms. This distinctive layout may lend itself particularly well to larger parties or sharing groups who can holiday together yet still retain a degree of privacy. Outside, the focal point of the courtyard garden is a vast covered dining terrace overlooking the pool with a corner fireplace and in-built barbecue as well as a solid wooden table and benches. Lawn surrounds the kidney shaped pool and the garden is attractively stocked with palms, ornamental cactii and beds of scented lavender. Local Amenities and ActivitiesJust a few kilometers inland from the Adriatic coast, Mrgani is situated close to Dvigrad and the Limski Kanal. The terrain is dramatic with undulating forested hillsides and rocky escarpments. Nearest facilities include a general store, post office, pizzeria and local café at Kanfanar about 7km away. To the south-east the bustling fishing port of Rovinj (18km), rich in Baroque and Byzantine architecture, has a waterfront lined with bars and restaurants perfect for watching the harbor activity. On the south side of the old town paths lead towards the wooded Cape of Zlatni rt, fringed by rocky beaches, and the park of Punta Corrente, where clearly marked trails guide you through a dense forest of pines, cedars and cypresses. Regular ferries cross the short distance to the islands of Sveta Katarina and Crveni otok where pine shaded shorelines and ultra clear waters beckon invitingly.
