House Zambia is a luxurious newly built villa, at the center of the village of Prines, that successfully combines the traditional "Greek village" architecture with modern facilities to provide an unforgettable romantic and relaxing experience even to its most demanding guests. House Zambia is located in the old settlement of Prines, Rethymnon, Crete, Greece. The area where the house is located is very quiet and retains its traditional characteristics. House Zambia is an ideal holiday retreat for those seeking relaxation but also for those that want to explore Crete. House Zambia's location is very convenient for the latter. The village of Prines is seven (7) minutes away from the center of the town of Rethymnon (central Crete) and another seven (7) minutes away from the beautiful beach of Episkopi. All the other parts of Crete, Chania, Heraklion, and Agios Nikolaos are just a short drive away. Specifically, Chania is 40 minutes away, Heraklion 1 hour, and Agios Nikolaos 1 hour and 40 minutes. Although there are public transportations available to tour around Crete we highly recommend that you rent a car as this is the most convenient and quick way to explore Crete.

The door at the back of ground floor leads to this very large open area which also contains a large terrace with another fully equipped kitchen and a barbecue grill. You can enjoy House Zambia's swimming pool and garden at any time, even at night, as it is surrounded by elegant light poles. The high Cretan trees, plants, vegetation and bamboo fences, shield the pool and garden's view completely from the neighboring houses, providing complete privacy and beautiful green surroundings. Just outside the ground floor of House Zambia, there's an outside modern shower and toilet. If you are enjoying House Zambia's outdoor activities, you don't have to go inside to visit the toilet or have a shower. Everything you need is within reach. After all, you can cook outside, organize a family barbecue, or have a nap under the cool shadow of our garden trees. The garden not only provides a great relaxing and serene background scenery, but it also provides a cool shadow shelter for those famously hot Greek afternoons. House Zambia's garden is full of Cretan flowers, plants and trees but its centerpiece is the large, glorious oak tree at the edge of the garden, surrounded by a stone pedestal. Under the oak tree you can find a small coffee table, ideal for a relaxing chess or backgammon game amidst the guaranteed summer breeze of the garden. Overseeing the swimming pool and the garden is House Zambia's large terrace. The terrace houses a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge and freezer, an electric cooker and a barbecue grill. You can organize a BBQ event with family and friends with local, fresh Cretan meat you can buy directly from one of the village's butcher shops. The terrace also has a large dining table and is protected from the strong Greek midday sun with a tent. House Zambia follows the traditional Cretan Greek village style with stone walls and traditional furniture, tablecloths, and ornaments. House Zambia's kitchen is fully equipped. It not only contains all the essential electric appliances but we also make sure that you have all the spices, olive oil, vinegar, etc. you need for your cooking needs. In specific House Zambia's kitchen appliances include stove with cooker, coffee machine, fridge with big freezer, microwave oven,toaster, and juice maker. You can experiment with cooking traditional Mediterranean, Greek and Cretan foods by following the recipes in our cooking books. When you come to House Zambia, you will also find a basket full of seasonal, fresh vegetables and fruits. House Zambia's stairs lead to the second floor that houses the bedrooms and the bathroom. On the second floor's hallway there's a small coffee table, placed under the large sunroof which casts plenty of sunlight into the house even after late afternoon hours. The bedrooms sleep 5 (five) people in total and you can find more information and pictures about them in the Bedrooms page or the Gallery page. The bathroom, apart from the toilet and the bathtubcontains a big, family-sized washing machine.
House Zambia has two bedrooms on the first floor. The two bedrooms sleep in total five (5) people. The hallway is lit by natural sunlight coming inside from House Zambia's large sunroof. In the same floor there is the bathroom, which apart from the toilet and the bathtub contains a big, family-sized washing machine. House Zambia's second bedroom contains two beds, one single and one double one. The single bed is spacious enough so, if you have to, you can be flexible in your sleeping arrangements. To be totally comfortable, at most three (3) people can stay in House Zambia's second bedroom. However, if you absolutely need to sleep a fourth person (six people in total) and the ground floor's sofa (that turns into a bed) is not an option for you, please contact us and we'll definitely find a solution. Prines is a small historical village, 7 minutes away from the town of Rethymnon The village of Prines was a central place during the Venetian occupation of Crete. Driving directions (from airport or sea port)The village is very easy to find and come by car and we can also meet you in the center of Rethymnon or on the big intersection in Rethymnon on the Heraklion-Chania national road. The village of Prines is less than 5 minutes from the intersection, which is called "Komvos Atsipopoulou", taking the exit towards the Atsipopoulo location. Following the central road, you will shortly arrive at Prines.
